2004

2004 thirteenth year

  • Programme
  • The International Music Festival Český Krumlov gained a firm position in the cultural and social scene not only in Český Krumlov and Southern Bohemia, but its reputation extended beyond the border of the Czech Republic. The overwhelmingly positive response to the previous years compelled the organizers to prolong the festival. This year it took place from July16th to August 28th. The participation of the principle Czech and foreign political and cultural personalities, and the successful presentation of the financial partners bears witness to the increasing prestige of the festival. The festival enjoyed the great interest of the Czech as well as foreign audiences, for many visitors it became a musical as well as a social event. Many rated this year as a summer full of romance and music with an unrepeatable atmosphere. The opening concert of the violin virtuoso Pavel Šporcl with the Prague Chamber Philharmonic wth conductor Tomáš Hanus was an unforgettable experience; the opera gala concert in the castle garden with Eva Urbanová, Lubica Vargicová (Slovakia) and Oleg Kulko (Russia) accompanied by the Symphonic Orchestra of the Czech Radio directed by Ondrej Lenárd (Slovakia); the Baroque Night with Antonio Vivaldi; the concerts of Jan Spálený & friends, Australian James Morrison with Gustav Brom’s Big Band and Čechomor with the Collegium of Czech Philharmonists in the Beer Garden; or the closing concert „A Tribute to Antonín Dvořák“ with the Czech Philharmonic led by conductor Zdeňek Mácal with a soloist – the violin virtuoso Ivan Ženatý.
