2025

The 34th edition, with the main theme Unexpected Connections, brought one of the most daring cultural events in Central Europe in 2025. The opening ceremony of Unexpected Baroque brought together soprano Simona Houda-Šaturová, trumpeter Pacho Flores, dancer Ida Nowakowska, and the artistic collective RUN OPERUN on the surface of the castle lake. Violin virtuoso Maxim Vengerov confirmed that mastery and humility can come together in a single note. Several premieres took place: Handel’s opera Alessandro Severo performed by Collegium Marianum under the baton of Jana Semerádová in a unique Baroque theater, Sulle rovine del tempo by Martin Kux-Král performed by Fama Q in the industrial Port 1560, and CentriFugy by Jiří Trtík performed by the Prague Brass Quintet in the Krumlov synagogue. For the first time ever, there was a Kaplický Day of Music, the ten-time Grammy Award-winning vocal group Take 6 returned, and everything was rounded off by Passionate Carmen: an opera and ballet with mezzo-soprano Ester Pavlů, tenor Joseph Calleja, baritone Svatopluk Sem, and Les Ballets Bubeníček, choreographed by Jiří Bubeníček. History was made with the courage to change the way people perceive music.
