Dad and Son
Summer Theatre Stage for Families and Kids
In this piece by TEÁTR PAVLA ŠMÍDA, dad Pavel and son Filip Šmídovi perform a story about the relationship between a father and a son, about the joys and hardships of childhood and parenthood, about understanding and misunderstanding, and about finding a way to each other. The script was written by Pavel and Filip Šmídovi; direction and stage design were handled by Stanislava Kočvarová (with further stage collaboration by Jáchym Řičánek and Zdeněk Hadač), and the puppet was carved by Jan Růžička. It is the eternal cycle of life. A son is born to a dad, and dad is a god... dad knows everything... dad, let me do it... dad is cringe... how would dad probably do it... dad, will you help me... if only dad were here... This humorous yet serious performance with live music, elements of clowning, and acrobatics will entertain both children and adults, but it will also make us reflect on how important it is to know how to play and how to give children wings.
