Rotary Lounge, Hotel Růže

An unusual space with a view of Český Krumlov Castle is located in Hotel Růže. The foundation stone was laid on March 19, 1586, and on May 16, 1588, Vilém of Rožmberk, Knight of the Golden Fleece and High Burgrave of Prague, handed over the keys to the completed building to the Jesuit Order.

The building was later used as barracks, among other things, and was opened as a hotel on September 3, 1889. It flourished until 1938, when the German occupation drove almost the entire Czech population out of the city. During World War II, one of the largest houses in Český Krumlov was used by German officers. In 1950, it was closed because no one wanted to undertake the necessary reconstruction. After 1989, Jan Horal bought the building, renovated it, and in 1999, he ceremoniously opened a five-star hotel there.
