Tiny Philharmonics: Beautiful Strings
The mission of Duo Beautiful Strings is to bring the joy of beautiful live music into the lives of their listeners. The concert opens with the cheerful Italian Variations by Niccolò Paganini. The beauty and grandeur of the New World will be heard in Dvořák’s immortal Largo. The dazzling Italian violin, in the hands of Monika Urbanová, will shine in the virtuosic Obertas by H. Wieniawski and the famous Czardas by Monti.
The solo harp will come to life in a beautiful piece by John Thomas. The composer’s farewell to his homeland takes the form of four variations, each showcasing a different technical aspect of the harp. Two Hebrew Ballads by Roman Ryterband, a Polish composer and Holocaust survivor, written in 1946, speak of deep suffering but also of hope for a better tomorrow.
The concert will conclude with a lively Argentine tango by Astor Piazzolla, highlighting the beautiful interplay between violin and harp.
