Ivan Klánský
Ivan Klánský is a Czech pianist, soloist, chamber musician, and teacher of international renown. After winning the international piano competition in Bolzano in 1967, he began his international career. He was also a laureate of competitions in Naples (1968), Leipzig (1968), Barcelona (1970), Warsaw (1970), and others. After studying at the Prague Conservatory and the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague with professors such as Valentina Kameníková and František Rauch, he became a sought-after soloist and chamber music partner. Since 1983, he has been a professor at the Music Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, and since 1991 he has also been a professor at the Musikhochschule Luzern in Switzerland. In 1986, he founded the Guarneri Trio Prague, with which he regularly performs and records. He is the recipient of the Antonín Dvořák Prize for his lifetime contribution to Czech classical music. His repertoire ranges from Baroque to Classical to contemporary music; he performs all over the world and is known for his deep understanding of music and extraordinary musicality.
Jan Talich
Jan Talich is a leading Czech violinist, conductor, and teacher. After completing his studies and winning a series of national and international competitions (e.g., Zagreb ’89), he built an intense solo career, collaborating with partners such as Itamar Golan, Gottlieb Wallish, Jean-Yves Thibaudet, and Jean-Bernard Pommier. He played for five years in the Kubelík Trio, then took up the position of first violin in the Talich Quartet, an ensemble founded by his father in 1964, which is still internationally renowned. As a conductor, he founded the Talich Chamber Orchestra in 1992, was chief conductor of the South Bohemian Philharmonic from 2007 to 2020, and now serves as its permanent guest conductor. He teaches at the Prague Conservatory and also teaches master classes in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and the United States. His discography includes dozens of CDs: with the Talich Quartet, he has recorded complete works by Mendelssohn, Kalivoda, Smetana, Janáček, Shostakovich, Brahms, and Dvořák, as well as other projects with orchestras (for Supraphon, Calliope, and others).
South Bohemia Philharmonic Orchestra
The only professional orchestra in the South Bohemia region, the South Bohemian Philharmonic has forty members and will begin its 45th concert season in autumn 2025. From the 2024/25 season, the South Bohemian Philharmonic has a new chief conductor, Alena Hron, the first ever female conductor in the Czech Republic. The orchestra wants to reach as wide an audience as possible with its programme, which is why, in addition to classical music, it also prepares crossover concerts with overlaps into other genres, but always while meeting the quality requirements. The South Bohemian Philharmonic Orchestra always wants to enthuse, entertain, delight and make the audience come back.
