The first year of the International Music Festival Český Krumlov was a several-day-long show that was brought to fruition from the enthusiasm of the organizational team in the Auviex company. The festival was founded by its director Jaromír Boháč, Zuzana Lufinková, Jan Fischer and others.
The festival was officially inaugurated by the then chancellor of the president, Mr. Karel Schwarzenberg, and the mayor of the town. The Virtuosi di Praga orchestra led by the Austrian conductor Kurt Rapf performed the first inaugural concert in the castle’s Riding Hall. The soloist of the evening was the cellist Evžen Rattay. The festival was so interesting in its dramaturgy and concert location, that the inaugural concert was broadcast on television and radio.
