Kyunghye La
was born in Seoul, Korea and began her music eduacation with Youngja Kim at the Seoul art high school in 1982. She received B.A degree at the dept of vocal in YonseiUniversity in seoul with honor in 1990. In 1990, She began her studies with G. Kahry at the University of Music and Dramatic Arts in Vienna , where she received diploma with award from Minister of Art and Culture of Austria. She also attended mastercourses from Academy of Mozateum, University of Music and Dramatic Arts in Vienna, Austria and Almenia, Spain.
Sop. La won first prize at the Merano International competition in Italy and the second prize at the Moniuszko vocal cometition in Poland.
Upon graduation, She worked as a soloist in Aachen opera company in Germany as well as a guest soloist in opera productions in Europe and Korea.
Major performances in Opera include 'Madama Butterfly' in Puccini's Madama butterfly, 'Manon' in Puccini's Manon Rescaut, 'Mimi' in Puccini's La Boheme, 'Rosalinde' in Strauss's die Fledermaus, 'Nedda' in Leoncavallo's Pagliacci, 'Fiordiligi' in Mozart's Cosi Fan Tutte, 'Mrs. Hyekyung Hong' in La's Bujayuchin, 'daughter of Gen. Kwon-yul' in Lim's Gen. Kwon-yul and 'Micaella' in Biezet's Carmen.
She also gave recitals in Moniuszko festival in Warsaw, Symanowsky festival in Krakaw, poland as well as in major cities in Korea. She also performed with several symphonies such as the Prague Symphony chamber, the National Warsaw Symphony, the Tokyo symphony, the KBS symphony, the West saechsische symphony orchestra, and the Aachen Symphony.
In addition to operas and concert works, Sop. La also gave variety of perfomances in Art song recitals and as a soloist in Oratorios. Sop La also appeared as a soloist in Mahler symphony No. 2 and No. 8 inKorea and in Deutsches Requiem of Brahms in Austria.
Sop. Kyunghye La currently teaches Opera and Lied as an professor in YonseiUniversity in Seoul, Korea.
