International Music Festival Český Krumlov 2010

The 19th year of the International Music Festival Český Krumlov takes place from July 16 to August 21, 2010.

The music palette of the 19th year of the festival will be opened on July 16 with a unique opera gala performance featuring the famous Argentinean “tenor of the 21st century”, José Cura. The charming voice, brilliant technique, and suggestive stage performance of this first-class star singer promise an unforgettable experience. Partners of this singer will include Korean soprano In Hye Kim and Symphonic Orchestra of the Czech Radio conducted by Mario de Rosa.

Variety of the festival will be supported by the third part of the extremely successful musical project called Night on Broadway. Captivating melodies of Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, or the current hit Mamma Mia will be brought to you by a trio of American singers coming directly from the legendary Broadway. The main star will be soprano Christiane Noll, Moravian Philharmony Olomouc will be conducted by Rondall Craig Fleicher (July 17).

The Krumlov revolving stage is going to dress an opera robe again and this time it will offer Mozart’s opera of all operas, Don Giovanni, performed in coproduction with the South Bohemian Theatre České Budějovice (July 23 – July 28).

The series of chamber concerts will include a performance of legendary violinist Gidon Kremer who is one of the absolutely best violinists in the world and he will come to Český Krumlov with his orchestra Kremerata Baltica, the founder of which he is. You will be able to listen to his very musical and technically perfect interpretation in the Castle Riding Hall on July 31.

The festival will not ignore national specialties and will offer not only attractive Hispanic rhythms and melodies, but also a gourmet’s experience in a form of gastronomic specialties brought to you directly from vivid and sunny Mexico (August 7). Electrifying temperament will not leave us also on the next concert which brings unique conjunction of the Czech prominent violin virtuoso Pavel Šporcl with Slovak gipsy cymbal band Romano Stilo (August 14). 

The music palette will be enriched by arts of old masters, brought to Český Krumlov by Octupus Pragensis (August 19), and baroque music of Czech monasteries will be presented by Capella Regia Musicalis (August 8).

The last colours and tones of music of the 19th year of the festival will sound on August 21. The Symphonic Orchestra of the Czech Radio will be conducted by José Miguel Rodilla. You will here Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concert D-major and Symphony No. 8 called English by Antonín Dvořák. Prominent Israeli violinist Vadim Gluzman will play the solo part.
